Purple People Eater

Well, I didn’t make it to yoga today. I missed it by about 15 minutes because I had to pick up Raleigh from the groomer. No biggie…I did about 35ish minutes of yoga when I got back.

Have I told you that Raleigh loves yoga too?

It’s why we were meant to be together ūüôā The second the mat comes out she runs to it and just sits or lays there. When I practice, she lays at the end, sometimes getting in the way. It makes me laugh though. Whenever I am in down dog she likes to walk in between my arms and legs or under me as though I am a little bridge she is crawling under. She will just circle and circle. We always say that is how she gives hugs.

This afternoon Mom and I went to Sam’s Club to buy some organic lettuce and baby spinach. We go through it so quickly and Sam’s is close that it makes sense to buy it there. Welllllll, I found these guys there and couldn’t resist. They are my favorite!

I have been pretty impressed lately with the selection of organic and natural products at Sam’s and Costco (where we will be going Sunday since it is a bit further of a drive). Sometimes it isn’t always the “healthiest” organic stuff like weird¬†cracker or cookie things, ¬†but atleast they are headed in the right direction with it.

Post-Sam’s Club and¬†pre-Raleigh pick-up, my dad and I split a smoothie. This is about half of what we made:

The first thing that came to my mind was “purple people eater.” That’s all I could think while drinking this deliciousness. This mix was 1 cup of vanilla soy milk (had a LITTLE too much soy today for my liking) some of¬†dad’s whey protein powder (going to get the hemp protein powder tomorrow at Whole Foods. Living Harvest brand, right VeggieGirl!?), half a banana and about a cup of ¬†frozen cherries and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. OH MY GOSH it was so good! I had never tried cherries in a smoothie and I really liked it.

Dinner was an “Eggurrito,” as I like to call it. Mexican food is my favorite and this was a breakfast inspired tribute. I sauteed red onion and yellow bell pepper then added minced garlic, cumin (which I later dropped and shattered all over the floor…yikes), 1/4c of black beans and a large handful of spinach. Topped with an over-medium egg and salsa. Delicious!

And a jazz apple. I like this kind but doesn’t compare to a honeycrisp or pink lady.

Well, I am officially exhausted. The effects of a stressful semester are finally settling in and I am so happy to be home relaxing and re-energizing. Just got good news though….I got straight A’s! I am very proud that all of that hard work paid off!

Tomorrow morning I will DEFINITELY be going to yoga. There is a 90 minute power flow class at 9:00am. I can’t wait! I will let you know how it goes.

Have a great night…tomorrow is Friday!!

Gettin’ There

Well, second test down and two more to go. It’s always so nice after finishing a class because you get to get rid of ALL of the old STUFF!! Woo hoo!

This afternoon I went to Target to kill some time. I chose Target because they usually have a pretty good magazine section and I really wanted to get the new copy of Clean Eating Magazine. I LOVE this magazine and especially love Tosca Reno’s Clean Eating books. They didn’t have it which was a bummer but I did find a cute little white shirt on sale for $6.99. I couldn’t resist.

I went to gas up my car (whom I call Vanna White…it’s a white car, and it’s purty) after because I didn’t think I would get a chance before Wednesday and I was almost on empty. I was so happy that it only cost $20!¬† Much better than the $40 it was costing me not too long ago. Even though gas prices are much lower it’s still sad that our economy is less than stellar (understatement of the year). It has been interesting to be taking Finance this past semester because we got to do a lot of research on the market and the bail out plan. My major is Finance and I find all of that stuff so interesting…Just me?

I brought out the Magic Bullet when I got back around 4:00pm. This combo was with Peach Kefir, half of a cold naner (as my friend Polly calls em’!), and about a cup of frozen strawberries that I am trying to finish before Wednesday…I may have to take them home in a cooler.

It was delish. I just love a smoothie! That Magic Bullet has been a lifesaver. And a pretty good deal too since we got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. Do you guys get those 20% off coupons in the mail? You know they never expire! They have an expiration date but they will still take them. AND you can use one for every item you buy. That’s just the best and made the MB worth the mulah.

I stopped at Mother Earth Market again on my outing this afternoon because I knew they would have my Clean Eating magazine and I wanted to get something from their hot bar for dinner. I got Israeli Couscous with Black Beans and Roasted Veggies. My meal was only $3.70 ($6.99/lb). I was pretty excited since dinner out is usually more like $7-$10. I put a little bit of Greek Yogurt on top of the bean/couscous mixture a few bites in and it was delicious. I had never had this kind of couscous before and I loved both the taste and texture.

Hope you had a great evening. I will be resting tonight and waking up to do it all over again tomorrow. Luckily my Dad will be in town for dinner though. He travels often for work and pass through Gainesville often. He will be in town tomorrow night AND it’s his birthday so we will get to celebrate together!

Good Night!

It’s 60* and I’m FREEZING!

True sign of a Floridian. I am all bundled up in this “cold” weather. You northerners are probably laughing right now but I just can’t help it! It was in the 30’s this morning! It will be about 50* when I go to my LAST EXAM REVIEW for the WHOLE SEMESTER. THANK HEAVENS!! I am so ready! (Can you tell from my whining the last few days!?)

I had a really productive morning and got most of the things I wanted to do done. I even did two loads of laundry…bonus! (My mom will be happy to know I am not going to be clogging up the washer when I get home…love ya Ma!) Breakfast held me over until noon! It had to be the chocolate =)

I took a 1.5 mile walk before lunch to try to warm up. I got back hungry and had this:

It was an Ezekiel tortilla with spinach, tomato slices and the Mediterranean Chicpea Salad I bought at Mother Earth Market yesterday.  It had garbanzo beans, tomato, feta, scallions parsley and white wine vinegar. I am going to try to replicate it when I am home. I love cold bean salads. They are just so tasty!

I ended up putting the Fage that is in the background back and had a Stonyfield Farm Organic Low-Fat Vanilla Yogurt with blueberries and 1 tbs homemade granola. No picture though. My camera died…even though I charged it just two days ago!

I went for another 1.5 mile walk AFTER lunch to try to warm up AGAIN. It was nice to release some energy since my desk is holding me hostage.

I am in the mood for something HOT for dinner. Not sure what though. I need something to warm me up. Don’t Laugh. I won’t be able to post tonight since I will be at my exam review so enjoy your Saturday evening! 4 MORE DAYS!
